The Shu-Expanse, now known as The Hariq desert, was once a vibrant and fertile land in the ancient days. It was home to numerous Genasi tribes, human settlers, and dwarven refugees who had sought refuge in the region. The land was blessed with lush valleys, winding rivers, and a harmonious coexistence between the different inhabitants.

However, the Glowfall Cataclysm, which occurred at the end of the 2nd Northern war, brought devastation to the Shu-Expanse. The cataclysm resulted in a catastrophic shift in the land's elemental balance, causing the once fertile region to transform into a scorching desert. The Glowfall Cataclysm was believed to be the result of powerful and destructive magic unleashed during the war.

The locals who survived the cataclysm, blaming the Sunking Hariq Steeleye for the ecological collapse, renamed the region the Hariq Desert as a testament to their anger and loss. They held Hariq Steeleye responsible for the destruction of their homeland and the suffering it caused.

Since then, the Hariq Desert has remained an arid and inhospitable land, with scorching temperatures, little vegetation, and scarce water sources. The once-thriving civilizations that inhabited the Shu-Expanse have scattered or perished, leaving behind ruins and remnants of their former glory.

Even after over 800 years, the name "Hariq Desert" serves as a reminder of the tragic past and the consequences of unchecked power and devastation. It is a testament to the resilience of the survivors who carry the burden of their lost homeland and seek to rebuild their lives in the unforgiving desert environment.
