Staff of Tides

A smooth alabaster staff with a frozen whirlpool of water entrapping a Primordial Shard of Water at its head. Ormund Vanstein crafted this staff with the spare Primordial Shard of Water Bill's Bimbos retrieved during their quest around the Isles of Reus.


Staff, weapon, very rare (requires attunement by a druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard)

Simple weapon, melee weapon. 1d6 bludgeoning - versatile (1d8)

While you hold this staff, areas affected by deep water do not count as difficult terrain for you, and you gain a swimming speed of 30 feet.

The staff has 10 charges. While holding it, you can expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it using the required casting time as well as your spell save DC: maelstrom (5 charges), control water (4 charges), summon beast (water only, 2 charges), or wall of water (3 charges).

In addition, while holding the staff, you can cast Shape Water at will.

The staff regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff melts into water and disperses.
