Otto Bauer was born in 1914 Morgan City to a proud military family, his father and grandfather were always proud to say that their family has fought for the winning side of almost every war in United States history. Not too long after Otto started his schooling, his younger brother, Kurt, was born, and despite the age gap, the two were incredible friends. Despite the looming depression, Otto decided that he would be better off pursuing higher education. Figuring that with President Roosevelt's New Deal focusing on the building of public works, engineers might be in short supply, but still not straying too far from his family legacy he attended the Air Force Institute of Technology in Ohio. After graduating, he remained on the Air Force Base, working his way up the ranks, waiting for his brother to come to the school.
It was there on the base that he met a young woman named Marie, her father was wounded in the Great War during his time in the Navy, and she wanted to try to save people the way the doctors and nurses saved her father. It wasn't long before they had fallen in love, and in mid 1939 the pair got married in the chapel on the base, making sure they did so before Kurt left for Hawaii. While still stationed in Ohio, the aeronautical engineers had developed an experimental prototype engine for a plane based on the recent theoretical postulations of Einstein and Rosen. They believed that their engine could work, and if the United States was dragged into the war in Europe, planes equipped with these engines could probably help win the war. So, Otto volunteered to test out the engine, but something went wrong when the engine was activated, strange quantum energy leaked into the plane, bestowing him with strange abilities.
After the first accidental misfiring of these abilities, Otto was transferred to the Brownbridge Army Reserve Base, a safe place out in the desert where his abilities could be tested for their combat potential. Then there was an attack on Pearl Harbor, and his brother Kurt was one of the casualties, and the same day that the news reached him Dr Hardy Weber approached the The United States Armed Forces with an offer. Otto was installed as Dr Weber's second-in-command, he was the perfect bridge, already having gone through military training and having strange powers of his own. After the war was over, Marie and Otto moved onto the base in Brownbridge, it was there that their son Kurt Bauer II was born and raised.
When the Taskforce was disbanded, Otto moved back to Morgan City, and after years of dedicated service to the Air Force he finally retired. He opened up a garage in the city, taking his skills as at helping to fix airplanes to instead repair cars. But for years following the disbanding, Otto took almost any opportunity he could find to keep doing superhero work, but this was done mostly in the shadows. He also worked hard to attempt to declassify his team's work after the death of Professor Evan Hagan, and as more of his friends passed, the harder he worked. That was until the battle in Midiston, where Powered individuals were on display for the world to see, it was impossible for the government to ignore, so his team's work was finally declassified. He attended the groundbreaking for the Taskforce Memorial Hall, he became a pundit on various news networks any time a powered individual made the headlines. He petitioned the government heavily to come up with protections against powered individuals for the sake of the powered and non-powered alike, though he sadly never got to see his work come to fruition.
