Otto Bauer, the hero known as Zero and the last fully human member of the Taskforce, was killed on April 13th, 2010, at the age of 96. He was shot once in the shoulder and once in the chest following a meeting with the Senate Committee for the Armed Services. Otto was rushed to the MedStar Washington Hospital Center for emergency surgery and died on the operating table. He was buried in his family mausoleum in Morgan City, Nebraska. It was Otto's death that sent the last two members of the Taskforce into retirement, with all seven suits on display at the Taskforce Memorial Hall in Brownbridge, New Mexico, standing where their old headquarters was.
Following the deaths of Izel Perez and Ilay Klein, and the work of the Taskforce being released to the public, Otto made it his life's mission to make the public and government aware that powered individuals, human and alien alike, are just people and want to be treated as such. He worked hard to remove the fear of powered people from the public, while still arguing for caution and preparedness in the event some dangerous powered individual should attack.
