Lizardfolk stand around 4’4” as adults. The average life span is approximately 150 years. The color of their scales range throughout the colors of the rainbow. 95% of Lizardfolk have golden yellow eyes. The other five percent have blue, red or green eyes, with blue being the rarest, at 0.75%. The three outlier colors correspond to an elemental breath attack that is “charged” via a specific breathing pattern, and tends to take a lot of energy out of the user. As such, the attack can be used no more than three times per day, lest dangerous levels of exhaustion occur. Golden-eyed Lizardfolk have no breath attack, but possess an extremely limited magical ability, regardless of the amount of excess energy their body carries, that allows them to be able to “influence” the direction rock breaks in order to better carve and shape homes and buildings. Eye color usually changes around the age of thirty, if ever. There is no known trigger for the color change.
Lizardfolk have a thumb and three fingers on their hands with short, thick, blunt claws. Despite this, the vast majority are skilled stone crafters, on par with Dwarves.
There is a rich, mostly unknown to outsiders, culture surrounding the Lizardfolk of Chaia. Religiously, nearly all Lizardfolk worship The Great Mother. Clothing is as colorful as their scales, and the patterns are just as varied and complimentary. There are skilled smiths, glassblowers, chefs, artisans of every stripe, and even locally trained Bards.
Warriors and hunters, however, wear little to no clothing, save a loincloth. This enables them to better blend in with their surroundings, and to strike from concealed spaces.
There are many clans of Lizardfolk spread throughout Chaia. The Haarthuu are only one such clan. Located in the northwestern tip of the Kingdom of Tutland, in Brid County, The Haarthuu live in the cavern city of Haruma. This massive cavern spans an unknown length of the local mountains, and legends state that it not only connects the different clans that are spread across all of Chaia, but also to the dwellings of the Dwarves, whom they call the Deep Ones.
