This magic weapon has a cursed history. Also known as the Vampire's Mace, the Mace of Molag Bal drains its victims of Magicka and gives it to the bearer. It also has the ability to transfer an enemy's strength to its wielder. Molag Bal has been quite free with his artifact.
It appears old and rusted.

Mundane Effects (1d8 piercing damage)
Counts as a +1 Weapon.
On a hit, this weapon deals an additional 2d6 cold damage.
On a hit, it drains away the Magicka of its target, causing it to lose a single, random spell slot. Roll 1d4. The target loses a spell slot of that level. If the target has no spell slots of that level, they lose a spell slot of the next lowest level. The attuned gains a charge to us a spell of that spell slot level.
Awakened State
+1 Magical bonus increases to +2.
The bonus cold damage dealt by this weapon increases from 2d6 to 3d6.
On a hit, the attuned may now choose to either extract a spell slot or, roll 1d4 and subtract that amount from the target's STR or DEX. This amount is subtracted from their max for the chosen ability, which can only be recovered from a Greater Restoration or Wish. This subtracted ability score is added to the attuned's score and maximum score until they complete a long rest.
Exalted State
+2 Magical bonus increases to +3.
The bonus cold damage dealt by this weapon increases from 3d6 to 4d6.
The attuned may now also choose to sap INT or WIS from their targets.
If a creature is reduced to 0 HP by this weapon, the attuned gains temporary hit points equal to the creature's max HP. These temporary HP remain for 24 hours, or until used up. While these temporary HP remain, the attuned gains advantage on attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks.
Cursed: This weapon creates a psychic connection between the attuned and Molag Bal. Molag Bal continually relays to the attuned that the weapon's intent is to punish and torture its targets. If the weapon is not used towards this end, he promises great pain for the attuned. The attuned is aware of the curse but cannot speak of it. The attuned may wish to abandon the weapon, but cannot unattune from it and Molag Bal's threats are very real. A Greater Restoration or Wish would be required to clear this curse and attunement from the attuned individual.
