In the beginning, Oghma harnessed the power of the Elemental Planes. He scuplted these lands from the four elements. Oghma then created a partner, Eldath, the Earth Mother. Her breath of life created the plants, animals, and peoples to populate Almantha. Every 120 years, Ohgma sent out a purifying comet of energy across the continent. Ohgma's Star rained down a powerful blessing upon the land. The water flowed pure, the plants and forests grew lush, disease never festered, and the people of this world lived in harmony for over 1,200 years
In the winter of 1231 P.C. (Post Creation), Bhall, the God of Murder, became hungry with the envy for Oghma's power of creation. He climbed from the deepest pits of the nine hells to strike down Oghma. This ended the Era of Peace and prevented the next Star of Oghma from spreading the blessing that had kept this world flourishing for so many years.
To protect Almantha, Eldath used the last of the activated stars of Oghma to create the dragons and Io to rule them. Io's dragons fought back against the forces of evil and push them back to the gates of Hell. At The Pinnacle of Almantha, Eldath met with the mortal Tadriel. Eldath imbued within him the power of the Gods to end the ever-growing presence of Bhall and the terrible disease that he spread over the land.
However, this was many years ago and although the land is scarred, people have survived and even prospered.
