Background

Monroe Artis is a 43 year old man. He lives by himself with his dear dog Papillion. A therapist for trade Monroe specializes with troubled teens. Trying to help them through life to give them something he never had.

When he was a child he was often the but of jokes and constantly taking the blame for his younger siblings actions. Even to the point where he stayed silent when one of his siblings broke his leg. As the family scapegoat he has been raised to stand firm and with help he learned how to survive and leave the manipulative situation his siblings put him in. Bringing him to Arkham to stay for the past twenty some years.

Because he was the oldest, there had reached a certain time in his life where he had to protect the family heirloom. When his mother had grown too old to. The woman making her journey from Northern Italy herself to deliver the heirloom. An old and dusty book that has laid shut for generations upon generations. Passed down upon the first born in the family. Being told that the secrets within are never meant to be known. Much less fall into the wrong hands out of fear of some great disaster.

Currently in his life he is content with setting the book aside in a hidden corner of his house. Stashed in a wall. But at night he swears he could hear it speak to him. Begging for him to open the book and to read. He assures himself every morning that it was just his paranoia but the things that are whispered are both incoherent and alluring. Its only a matter of time before the test of resolve is broken.

But for now he happily goes into work to help teens/ young adults. To which a good bit of his long term of patients love him. Often creating small charms, bits and bobs and drawings. The favorite subject that the patients love are moths. This could be given from the amount of fancy lamps in Monroe's office or the large display case of moths hung up on the wall. The dark circles around his eyes doesn't help against the theory that he is a moth that stays up all night burning the lamp oil.

Sage Knacks

Office Hours - Knacks

When someone approaches you with a problem that you can solve, they gain +1 Enhancement to resolve it themselves if you work them through a solution. If you can’t solve it, you gain the same bonus to all rolls to solve it on your own. These bonuses apply before rolls are made. Spend Momentum to impel a Storyguide Character to come to you with a problem in need of solving.

Speed Reading - Knacks

When you read materials for your research, you do so at lightning speed, devouring thick tomes in a matter of minutes and flipping through electronic documents in the blink of an eye. Halve the time you need to do any kind of academic research. Once a scene you may establish that you’ve read up on a subject and gain 1 Enhancement to the next applicable roll. This bonus applies before the roll.

Warrior Knacks

Death by Teacup - Knacks

When you use an improvised weapon, it becomes as deadly as anything designed for the job. It takes on the profile of any existing weapon of a similar size or shape: A teacup becomes brass knuckles or a punch dagger; a shard of glass becomes a knife; a thrown shoe becomes a throwing hatchet, etc. It must appropriately fit something of a similar size and shape, as described in the examples listed. This benefit lasts until you no longer hold the object, or until it breaks, or until you are no longer using the object with any Warrior Skill — whichever comes first. In the case of thrown objects, the benefit extends until impact. A hurled shoe strikes with the force of a tomahawk and then becomes ordinary footwear when it hits the ground. This is compatible with Master of Weapons, though still adheres to the set limitations.

Enhanced Impact - Knacks

Whenever you successfully deal Injury with your Knack Skill, you also knock the target back one range band. This does not do any extra damage, but can put someone in a tight spot.
