Background
Monroe Artis is a 43 year old man. He lives by himself with his dear dog Papillion. A therapist for trade Monroe specializes with troubled teens. Trying to help them through life to give them something he never had.
When he was a child he was often the but of jokes and constantly taking the blame for his younger siblings actions. Even to the point where he stayed silent when one of his siblings broke his leg. As the family scapegoat he has been raised to stand firm and with help he learned how to survive and leave the manipulative situation his siblings put him in. Bringing him to Arkham to stay for the past twenty some years.
Because he was the oldest, there had reached a certain time in his life where he had to protect the family heirloom. When his mother had grown too old to. The woman making her journey from Northern Italy herself to deliver the heirloom. An old and dusty book that has laid shut for generations upon generations. Passed down upon the first born in the family. Being told that the secrets within are never meant to be known. Much less fall into the wrong hands out of fear of some great disaster.
Currently in his life he is content with setting the book aside in a hidden corner of his house. Stashed in a wall. But at night he swears he could hear it speak to him. Begging for him to open the book and to read. He assures himself every morning that it was just his paranoia but the things that are whispered are both incoherent and alluring. Its only a matter of time before the test of resolve is broken.
But for now he happily goes into work to help teens/ young adults. To which a good bit of his long term of patients love him. Often creating small charms, bits and bobs and drawings. The favorite subject that the patients love are moths. This could be given from the amount of fancy lamps in Monroe's office or the large display case of moths hung up on the wall. The dark circles around his eyes doesn't help against the theory that he is a moth that stays up all night burning the lamp oil.
