This time, we went out into the Creakwood, to take a break from the Gloom. This time it was Dugen, Vigdis, Me, and Dugen’s friend Galnir. We followed a stream that went out Northwest from town, and we found a giant mushroom. It was in a clearing of its own, and it was giant, with a huge red cap. Vigdis said it was poisonous, but I don’t think we were gonna eat it. Probably.
We took a piece to send in, I guess the Guild might be interested. But we moved on pretty quick, and went up the stream more. The stream split, then looped back together later. We decided to look around on the little island thing in the middle. Is that an island? There’s not really much water, I don’t know what to call it...
Anyway, we checked out the not-island, and found some carved rocks out in a clearing. They looked pretty magical, and they seemed to make wind, or something like that. Vigdis touched them, and they glowed a little. They made a little bit of a sound, so I tried to sing with them. And it worked! The rocks glowed, then I felt funny and warm and I glowed too! Then Vigdis called me Rocksinger. I finally got a title! I really like it, and kind of want to make it my virtue name, but its not really heroic, so maybe I should wait? I don’t know. Vigdis is really proud of me, its nice.
So after the rocks, we followed the stream a bit, and we saw a big hill, so we went over there. There were some old ruins on top of it, and we checked it out but couldn’t really tell too much. We decided to sleep there, cuz it was late and it was a nice place to stay. The night was boring, but Vigdis started teaching me Goblin, so that was fun. I’m not good at it though.
In the morning, Vigdis found a sword under some rocks. It was really stuck, but Dugen helped chip away at the rocks and she pulled it out eventually. It was a fancy sword that let people talk to ghosts. But only once I guess.
She’s still really mad the sword tried to stop her from getting it.
From the hill, we saw a really big river to the north, and a lake with some stuff in it. So we went to the lake, and found out it was some flooded old ruins. The two dwarves decided to turn a nearby wagon into a boat, and Vigdis and I went to go look around. We found an old wardrobe, and Vigdis broke into it and found a box with a bunch of money and weird stuff in it. It had a creepy symbol with three masks on it, and there was a weird knife there too.
Dugen and his friend took a ride around on the boat. It looked kinda fun, but also really risky. I don’t swim good so I didn’t wanna ride.
Then we went to the big river, and followed that to the West. Oh, to the east part by the big ravine, there was a backwards waterfall. Vigdis says she really wanted to swim in it, but I don’t know, that sounds really scary. But we went west. And we found a really big normal waterfall, with a huge statue in it. Galnir says it can move sometimes. I don’t know what kinda statue moves, isn’t that like, the opposite of what they’re supposed to do?
Vigdis found a path behind it, that led to a little cave with a body in it and some camping stuff. He looked like he died pretty recently, and Vigdis used her sword to talk to him. We found out his name was Nel, and he was an adventurer like us, who got stuck and died when the statue moved. I kinda wanted to leave right then, but we stayed and talked to the ghost. He was with his friends Tolren and Perdil, but they didn’t get trapped. We were gonna find them and tell them what he said, but apparently they are really old.
He did say something about a hidden stash under a chimney though. After we talked with him we went back home. Vigdis is really really angry cuz we didn’t fight anything, but I think it was nice! I haven’t been outside the city much, but Creakwood is really pretty! Vigdis says I’m really good at seeing stuff in the Creakwood, and she called me Creek Seer too, so that’s really cool. I liked Creakwood a lot more than the Gloom.
Vigdis is really, really, really, really mad that she didn’t fight anything. Oh, she got a wolf friend too! His name is really hard though. Apparently, he’s mad he didn’t get to fight things too. But he wasn’t there? I guess he’s mad anyway. I believe her, he looks kinda mad. But he also always looks like that to me.
