The Nexus is populated with the most diverse group of people. All are related to former familiars from some point in the past. They mainly come from three groups of people. The first group are current familiars. They spend small amounts of time within the Nexus as they rest and stay safe from the harsh worlds they where created in. The second group are estranged familiars. These were recently familiars but lost contact with the being that uplifted them. The last group and by far the biggest group, are the descendants of familiars and estranged familiars.
1. Choose a Species
All Nexus character are mostly bipedal, with useful hand like appendages. You could have a octopi character that has tenacles but they can grip objects. All character can breath air. Some that might be based on fish can possibly breath under water. Every species might be unique. Below is the process to create one of the new species. This process is for making familiars from the mostly common types of familiars. It does include forms from non-standard creatures, like canines and plants, but does not include exotic familiars like undead, fey, and other creature types. These exist in the world of the nexus, but are very rare and these rules do not help you create that. Basically they should have abilities and powers that are roughly equal to these rules.
