The party strikes westward through the dusk and heads toward the shrine that protects the Vestige of Unknown. Along the path to the shrine they come across abandoned trinkets and baubles, and markings of eyes all over the place. They experience the unnerving sensation of being watched. They find a clan of Meazles who are bringing treasure into the shrine, and learn that the beholder Unknown has taken up residence in the shrine. Xin was drawn by the magical power of Unknown. In an effort to take the Vestige the party initiates combat with Xin. The party falls and all are petrified.

A year passes and the party is found and restored. When their rescuers arrived in search of the party they found no evidence of the beholder or Unknown. The party learns that much has happened in the past year. Unknown has fallen, and the whole Unknown is caught up in the fight against the Unknown. Death and chaos spread.

The party teleports to Unknown, and are immediately surrounded by guards. After some confusion they are greeted by Unknown and Mistress Maghra. They rest at the inn. While at the inn the party encounters Valmaki Songkeeper, Voice of the Storm, who carries a letter to Unknown from his uncle Unknown. Unknown also carries a package for Jeth. The package contains a small mirror, a signet ring with the image of a hand with six fingers, and a letter seeking audience. The letter is signed with an ornate “G”, and Jeth surmises that the summons is from The Shadow King, Lord Graz’zt.

That night Unknown lights a candle and uses a mirror to contact Graz’zt, with whom he strikes a bargain to find his missing daughter (Unknown) in return for knowledge about how to kill a god. As Jeth reaches out to shake Graz’zt’s hand to seal the bargain, he is pulled into the mirror and transported to Graz’zt’s throne room in the Argent Palace. When Jeth returns to the prime material plane he notices that the candle is burned down and that hours have passed.

As Jeth exits the inn he hears the sounds of battle raging in the streets of Mirabar. He finds the party who is locked in combat with the Unknown. They are being led by a necromancer. Battle rages throughout the city, though with the arrival of the party the tide starts to turn. As defeat seems imminent for the necromancer Ularan teleports to Mirabar atop his Nightmare steed. He murders the necromancer for failing to capture Mirabar. Seeing that the battle is lost he delivers a “message” in a bag to the party before teleporting away. The bag contains the severed head of Unknown. Unknown rushes out of Unknown with terrible news that Unknownis under attack and has likely fallen.

After some debate about the next course of action the party decides to teleport to Neverwinter. They arrive in the war room of Unknown and are heartened to see that the remaining members of The Unknown are still alive. There is a battle raging in Neverwinter and Castle Never is under siege by the dragon Unknown. Unknown joins the party as they make a last stand. The party manages to defeat Ebondeath, with Unknown dealing the decisive blow. A metallic green woman emerges From the remains of Ebondeath.
