Session 5

Wednesday 30th of December

Time To Party

We start at the party. Mitr is tired and some dwarves are leaving, drunk. We have made a good first impression.

Tallbeck and Féärònd have fallen asleep in a drunken stupor.

We find Fondir (the grandson of Otis, dwarf), and it seems like he had fun. Verla and Nonu approach him as he is writing down Otis' stories, which Verla asks about. Otis was a mercenary and fought orcs in his youth.

Nonu and Verla talk to Fondir about getting help to fix the ship and he invites us to a morning meet. We get the feeling there will be two factions when it comes to ship building - Allis seems to be the main guy for building while Gron is against it. It also seems like it will be young against old.

Fondir tells Verla and Nonu one of Otis' orc fighting stories.

Mitr manages to convince his metal worker to help us with the ship though it will be expensive - about 1500 gold.

Dago notices "The Opportunity" outside. They seem to have a cage with them. They come into the tavern and Dago tries to distract them. He mixes drinks and manages to fool them. He makes a terrible drink and they say that they are simply after Symbol. They notice Nonu and threaten both Tals and Symbol. We get into a fight.

The Fight

Mitr almost goes down due to his curse. Dago turns into a blue dire lobster and kills Singer violently. Nonu is grabbed, sets the guy on fire, and makes another guy release Tals, who seems ungrateful. Verla downs a guy but doesn't kill him. Mitr kills the guy grabbing Nonu and hurts Nonu in the process. Dago kills the last guy standing while in the form of a giant hyena. We win the fight.

The Outcome

Verla comforts Symbol, who is terrified. Nonu sears her own wounds and stops the bleeding. Mitr seems to have been taken over by something. Dago is watching Mitr while still in hyena form. Mitr makes a bird out of candle wax and starts banging a sword with a tankard forming it into a hoop. This lets him get out of the influence of whatever overtook him. Nonu starts cleaning the tavern, not seeming completely herself. Dago wakes Tallbeck and Féärònd, still a hyena. Symbol yells at everyone to get out and Verla, Mitr, Tallbeck, and Dago leave. Nonu cleans the tavern as best as she can.

Verla has the guy she didn't kill - Till, a blue tiefling with white hair and red eyes.  He tells her that they had a contract on Symbol. The Opportunity had to catch her and bring her in alive. They were bringing her to the lakecity Quarit in Northern Quiswa.

Till joins the crew (only mildly threatened). He agrees to explain to the people at the morning meet why he and his group were there. Till also tells us that the name "The Opportunity" is a name older than their dead leader Singer.

Singer had a coin on him which Till explains represents he is on a contract. The coin is silver which means a higher valued contract than the copper they normally dealt with.

Till tells us they were camped in the area for about three days. He tells us there are orcs in the area and that they dislike magic, which is why they were carrying magic rods.

We all go to see Symbol. She knew she was being hunted.

She tells us that "she has special blood, hears special songs, and sees special things".

She doesn't think they deserved to die. She tells us about Kirins - beings who read solutions but doesn't know the problems. They are beings made of gold.

She tells us the morning meet is in the tavern and warns us to be careful who we talk to and what we say.

She says we will join us if we promise not to hurt orcs. Dago realizes she can see the future and maybe knows something will happen.

The Morning Meet

We get a couple of hours of rest and then go to the morning meet. Till has some throwing knives and we make sure his binds are loose.

The tavern is parted into two groups with a chair in the middle to place "problems" on. So here, the issue is not on the table, the problem is on the chair. We are told that we are the problem right now, and we place Tallbeck in the chair. Gron is an old dwarf with a mass of white hair. He is surrounded by a crowd of old dwarves. Allis is a younger dwarf with red hair and a shorter beard. His crowd is smaller and mainly composed of younger dwarves.

We may have managed to convince them to help us with the ship, with some good arguments from most of the party, and they may start to build other ships in the future as a business prospect for the town.
