The Wellness Center, it used to be a big box store. But when that place went out of business, it, then the entire block was acquired by the Spring Wellness charity. Since the acquisition the city block has undergone a significant amount of development, but the most public facing of that has been the Wellness Center itself. With a large sign over the entrance, the interior of the place has a variety of options for people to engage with: Be it shopping for the fresh fruits and vegetables that are grown in the hydroponics facility located on the same block, going to the gym, the climbing wall, or the spa, or even picking up your regular prescriptions and receiving outpatient general care or physical therapy, the Wellness Center offers them all.
The style of the place is very in keeping with new age and alternative medicine places. Even to the point of selling their own (low cost) brand of vitamins, healing crystals, and other paraphenalia. Unlike other places that embrace such practices though, the place does stock actual medicines and does not embrace homeopathy. But if you need massage oil, some crystals, a yoga mat, weights, some Spring Wellness branded clothing (including spandex), then all this and more can be obtained in your one stop shopping trip to the Wellness Center.
As it is owned and operated by a 501c charity, the Wellness Center is not a profit motivated location. As such the medical care you Can obtain there is provided at the lowest possible cost (including none), and all insurance is accepted (even none). The items it sells are low price not because they are cheap and terrible, but because the charity has no reason to overcharge for things (and sales go to cover continued operation and salaries).
A recent addition to the charity has vastly expanded its functions. Due in no small part to a sizeable donation, the Spring Wellness charity has acquired a number of housing units throughout New York City, specifically with an eye toward stripping the lead paint and other hazards out of them, properly fixing them up (or finishing them for places that have infamously never been fully completed), and providing them as low-income, rent controlled housing. In addition to those units, some of them have been set aside to assist the un-housed population.
The Wellness Center also has a number of locations within it (in the upper floors) that are for members only. The membership is more than a matter of signing up and paying dues or what have you. ((OOC Note: The membership in question is the Sages of Spring Mystery Cult, whose benefits are already detailed in #custom-merits))
