The Magistrates traveled from Friendly Traveler Village to the shrine housing the Bells of the Dead.
Along the way there they encountered a small, outlying farm. Nobody was found within the house or fields. Inside there were signs of a struggle and three futons left out on the floor.
Reaching the shrine, the monk who maintained it and rang the bells appeared nervous when confronted with the bell of Hu Xiang. Eventually resulting in an oni bursting from his chest and attempting to flee. It cringed visibly when the bell was rung in its presence, and despite an arrow previously bouncing off harmlessly, was able to be killed with a subsequent shot.
Investigating the bells, they all appeared to be genuine except for the bell bearing the name of Hu Xiang which revealed signs of being a copy.
After the death of the oni the spirit of Hu Xiang appeared and led the magistrates into the mountains before suddenly vanishing. Looking up a fortress was seen where there had previously been nothing just a moment before.
After struggling to climb around it, the magistrates blasted a hole in the gate using some black powder that Kasuga Osamu had in his possession.
Heading inside, they noticed the strange nature of the well: filled with blood and dripping upwards into the sky. Following this they headed into the abandoned dojo. Akodo Tadashi picked up one of the silver naginata he found lying there and was dueled by it's twin, moving and attacking on its own until he was eventually able to destroy it.
