This tribe gets its name from an unusual ritual that its people undertake when they come of age, where their hands are washed with a mix of sandworm stomach acid (which, while painful, thankfully isn't very strong) and blood, usually that of a slain enemy. This permanently blackens the skin of their hands and forearms.
