Lycomedes

King of Scyros

Lycomedes, the king of Scyros, is often remembered for his role in the aftermath of the Trojan War, particularly in the tale of his deception of Achilles. It is said that, fearing for his daughter's future, he disguised the great warrior in women's clothing to prevent him from joining the Greek forces, showcasing both his cunning and protective nature. His actions not only shaped the fate of his kingdom but also left an indelible mark on the mythology surrounding Achilles, encapsulating the complex interplay of honour and survival among the Greek nobility.

Lycomedes also caused the death of Theseus, throwing him off a cliff for fearing that Theseus would attempt to overthrow him as King of Scyros.
