The shire borders extend from the northern shores of Widow’s Lake, across the Nightsong and Bloodback mountains, down beyond Holystone to the Southcut river and following Widow’s Wash on the western border. This has also been called the Southern Lakes Region and has a rich history.

While it has some wilder countryside (being that it contains the Stillwood and the Snaketooth Hills), it’s relatively calm as shires go. The road down from Brakenthorp is well kept and is known as the Old South Way.

The Lord, Hanrid Holystone, (a young and handsome newly appointed Lord) is a descendant of the original Holystone family dating back to the 2nd age (this being the 4th age), famous for the martyrdom of the paladin, Hansa Holystone off the shores of Cooper’s Rest. The Holystone Keep is considered a blessed site and some pilgrims to Dava travel here during their lifetimes.

A good number of Halflings have settled along the banks of Badger’s Brook and Hanrid provides them with protection.

Maiden’s Lake gives this district its name and has been a very quiet fishing spot for many years. As it’s not managed by royal decree, many travel here to fish its plentiful waters.
