Coreseeker

Coreseekers are self-reliant and often enigmatic individuals who embody a adventurous independent spirit in a now fading galaxy. They operate as a blend of freelance explorers, adventurers, planetary surveyors, treasure hunters, bounty hunters, smugglers, and interstellar merchants. Some Coreseekers work alone, while others form small crews, families, or loose bands, bound by mutual survival, profit, or loyalty.

A defining trait of Coreseekers is their ownership and operation of independent Skim Ships, vessels often adapted for long-range travel, planetary landings, and surviving the unpredictable conditions of Skim-space and travel into uncharted territories. Their ships are both their home and livelihood, often patched together from salvaged technology, archeo-tech, and custom modifications made during their travels.

Coreseekers pursue contracts from various factions, extranational institution, or even private individuals. However, many also undertake self-directed expeditions, chasing rumors of lost artifacts, forgotten settlements, or hidden caches of pre- the End technology. Others skirt the edges of legality, smuggling or operating in the shadow of official space lanes as nothing better than pirates.

Despite their rogue status, Coreseekers are respected, venerated and sometimes feared for their knowledge of the galaxy’s ruins, dead worlds, and forgotten systems. Some serve as mediators between factions, while others thrive on the lawlessness of the frontier. The allure of ancient treasure or undiscovered planets drives them forward, but the dangerous life ensures that only the most resourceful survive.

To many, Coreseekers are perhaps the galaxy's only hope, as they are some of the few that still push beyond where none have travelled before. Boldy going where only dead stellar husk and the shadows of extinct civilizations now reside.
