Stumbling Back to Normal

Session

Lasthaven

Simon heads out to the Tower to drop off several items and check in on Mouse and Brute.  The rest of the group speaks to the Steward, who is still recuperating.  We get permission to begin the Earthworks Project and are permitted to speak to the Dwarves about getting it started.

We also get permission to empower Katla as the leader of the White star Branch. She is the only full time employee remaining that isn’t dead or fled. The Steward will also make an announcement to the town in the evening about what’s happening with the undead threat to the people at large at the Inn.

Bale heads out alone to speak to Katla about her surprise promotion. She is not ready to take the reins, having just been through a trauma, and then a surprise reunion with her supposedly dead husband. Bale tries to get her to give him sole signing authority.  Instead, she gives all five of us signing authority, though it has to be through a majority vote. We are now representatives of White Star.

Codex, Maud and Berdyn investigate the old trading house south of the city.  The trading house is a public building, once used by all the trading caravans that came into the city until White star took over as a monopoly in the area.

We speak to Eramel and Obryn about the fortifications. They are told about the Steward’s condition, and show the Steward’s signed note to begin fortifications against the undead.

They are receptive, and also bring up the fact that they have a druid with them that can rise stone walls up from the ground.  It would be a separate cost, if we were interested.  We consider it, and know it will take some time as the spell to rise up walls of stone is a difficult one.  They will send their response and cost the next day.

Simon returns from the Tower.  We discuss with the White Star staff and open up trade with the Dwarves.  We then discuss what else to do, thinking about using White Star Funds to build the earthworks, or even rebuild the places they burned down.  However, we are told by Bale to be careful, as anything rebuilt with White Star money means they have a claim to the location as owners.

Mark of Yaragraph Blademaker

We meet up with Eramel and Obryn once more in the evening, and talk to them about the larger matters.  Codex explains the Vecna conspiracy and Southspire being a possible target.  Obryn confirms the identity of the mysterious maker’s mark for the weapons that the Giants have been wielding.

It is a Cloud giant named Yaragraph Blademaker.

Also they confirm that a group of humans visited Southspire last winter. They traded and left. It is possible that they are connected to the conspiracy.

We talk about our promise to the Kingdom of the Tiger. They are receptive to having Farvir go to Everlife, and Obryn offers the use of her wagon to help us transport items back from Everlife that were supposed to be sent to Everlife for the Dwarven trade.  Farvir speaks to us and is very charming, perhaps a little pompous and vapid, but a keen negotiator.

They will speak more tomorrow about details of a return to Everlife.

Finally we head to the Inn and listen to the Steward speak to the people. He is vague and downplays the dangers of the undead, but people are aware that that there is a danger and that the Earthworks are being constructed to protect them against attacks.
