Elaenia Mourndawn
Elaenia Mourndawn, Questor-Prime of the Obsidian Watch, stands as a figure of solemn resolve and unyielding purpose within the Anvils of the Heldenhammer. Before her Reforging, Elaenia hailed from the Nemedian Kingdom in Shyish, a realm both beautiful and steeped in ancient tradition. The Nemedians lived in harmony with their deceased ancestors, whose souls were bound to jewels carried by their living kin. These radiant tokens of remembrance allowed the dead to guide the living, creating a society where death was not an end but a continuation of familial bonds. Among this deeply spiritual people, Elaenia served as a priestess of Morda, a death deity venerated as both protector and guide of souls. She oversaw sacred rites, ensuring the balance between life and death was upheld.
Elaenia’s mortal life came to an end during a catastrophic raid by marauding undead, who sought to desecrate the Nemedians' sacred relics and shatter their connection to their ancestors. Leading her people in their defence, Elaenia stood firm against the invaders, sacrificing herself to protect the sanctity of her temple and the ancestral jewels within. Her bravery and unwavering devotion caught the attention of Sigmar, who chose her for Reforging. Yet, the process left her distant and cold, her memories fragmented and her once-deep connections to others diminished.
This emotional distance is most evident in her interactions with Kyros Vrax, leader of the Obsidian Watch, who had been her lover in mortal life. While Kyros retains a lingering sense of their bond, Elaenia’s fragmented memories and her focus on duty have made her colder and more aloof. This strained dynamic creates moments of tension between them, as Kyros struggles with the loss of the warmth they once shared, while Elaenia views personal attachments as distractions from their sacred mission. To her, the protection of souls—both mortal and Stormcast—is paramount, eclipsing any lingering ties to her past.
