Morvak Blackflame, the Deamonbane
Morvak Blackflame stands as a figure of resolute defiance and mastery over the arcane, a Lord-Exorcist of unparalleled skill. Hailing from a noble lineage in the high spires of Azyr, Morvak was once a mortal steeped in the traditions of celestial academia and spiritual discipline. In his first life, he was a scholar-priest, dedicating his existence to the study of the heavens and the mysteries of the arcane. Morvak met his mortal end during the fateful Battle of Burning Skies, where he stood alongside other defenders of the Mortal Realms against the overwhelming forces of Chaos. Despite his mastery of celestial magic and his unwavering resolve, Morvak perished in a last stand meant to safeguard the retreat of his people. His bravery and devotion in the face of annihilation caught the gaze of Sigmar, who deemed him worthy of reforging into a Stormcast Eternal.
Reforged as a Stormcast Eternal, Morvak retains his sharp mind and unwavering dedication to protecting the vulnerable. He continues to grapple with the consequences of decisions made during the Sacrosanct Chamber’s withdrawal, an act he opposed vehemently but was powerless to prevent. Now a member of the Obsidian Watch, Morvak has taken it upon himself to assemble a coalition of sacrosanct battle mages. His goal is clear: to slow the degradation of souls rescued from the torment of the Blackscail Coil cabalists, ensuring their purity and strength endure despite the harrowing trials they have faced. His mastery of exorcisms and his ability to dispel dark magics are instrumental in this effort, yet his traditionalist views often place him at odds with others in the Watch.
Morvak continues to wear the venerable armor of the Stormcast’s earlier forges, refusing to adopt the newer Thunderstrike plate. To him, the old ways represent stability and honor—principles he holds above all else. Despite his skill and dedication, Morvak finds working alongside Kyros Vrax to be an irksome necessity. While he respects Kyros’ resilience and determination, he views the Knight-Questor’s unorthodox methods and tarnished reputation as a liability. Their tense relationship manifests in subtle clashes over strategy, with Morvak often advocating for caution and adherence to tradition while Kyros presses for bold action. Nevertheless, Morvak’s unwavering focus on their shared mission keeps him tethered to the Watch, even as he harbors reservations about its leadership. His abilities to banish evil and his unshakeable faith make him a cornerstone of the Obsidian Watch, even if his path is fraught with inner conflict.
