Graveblade’s Liberators are a steadfast unit within the Obsidian Watch, known for their endurance in battle and unwavering commitment to duty. They serve as the unbreakable shield of their comrades, holding the line against overwhelming odds so that others may complete their sacred tasks. Clad in the heavy plate of the Anvils of the Heldenhammer, they bear the weight of countless reforgings, each one stripping away more of their past selves but never their purpose.
Their leader, Kaelthar Graveblade, is a warrior of grim determination and unshakable resolve. Once a mortal chieftain in Shyish, he led his people against the horrors of the underworld before falling in battle, only to rise again as a Stormcast Eternal. Despite the toll of reforging, he remains a rare source of warmth within the Obsidian Watch, his deep laughter and camaraderie lifting the spirits of his comrades. On the battlefield, however, he is all business—his hammer strikes with crushing finality, his shield an immovable bulwark against the enemies of Sigmar.
Graveblade’s Liberators earned their name during the Battle of the Black Cairns, where they stood firm against an endless tide of skeletal warriors animated by necromantic rites. With their backs to a ravine and no reinforcements in sight, they held the line for hours, their shields locked in an unbreakable wall of steel and determination. Their defiance allowed Morvak Blackflame to complete a great banishing ritual, breaking the undead horde and securing victory. Ever since, Graveblade’s Liberators have been the first to step forward when the situation seems hopeless, their unyielding will a testament to the power of perseverance and sacrifice.
