A collection of wast obsidian ruins underneath the Spines of Vaaraak, this once was the proud city of Obsidiraneum, a place of magic, wonder and unceasing ambition. Built atop of intersection of magical leylines, this place was always infused with the fiery magic of Aqshy and in ages past, people from all races converged here to establish a mighty city dedicated to learning and progress. Soon, Obsidia became a dominant player in local politics and its fame was spread far and wide. Its mastery over the fiery nature of the realm and the ability to shape emberstone itself allowed it to transform the lands around and to this day, remnants of the great works of the obsidian mages can be witnessed on not only the land, but also on both fauna and flora of the surrounding area.
Though the exact details of the fall of the city remain shrouded in the distant past, among those that remember the myths, it is said, that unlike other tragic stories under which the Mortal Realms are buried, the doom of this city did not come at the hands of Chaos. Instead, it was doomed by the failings of mortal, by pride and ambition from both within and without. After the last spire crashed down to earth and the dust settled, only the rampant endless magic remained, plaguing the surrounding land and its peoples, forever engraving in them fear of this place. In time, majority of the spells faded and the nation of Pyrix rose to prominence, Obsidiraneum remaining only as a myth from a distant past until even the people of Pyrix had to depart with the coming Age of Chaos.
Now it is a ruined place, the very center of the city still unstable under the weight of the magic unleashed so long ago and those unfortunate souls that come here often find themselves having to fight the very elements themselves
