The Yunnaiteddo Federation is a loose federation of clans who constantly vie for power and influence among themselves. The federation is extremely loose, with individual clans often controlling more power than the Huangdi, the official leader of the federation. Conflict between tribes is common and widespread, with little large scale military confrontations and more small border skirmishes or raiding parties. The clans are rarely ever united together under one cause, only sometimes regional alliances based on current interests and goals.
The Yunnnaiteddo Federation was founded when the King of Falglor, after the Age of Frost, decided to destroy the nobility by repossessing their lands, imposing hefty debts upon them, and even imprisoning some of them on trumped up charges with the goal to either destroy the nobility entirely or to relegate it to pointlessness. This move made the king popular among the lower classes, though it made him many enemies within the nobility, who feared they were next. A number of the Teobu nobles located on the Xi Region and the surrounding areas to the east decided that they were going to make the first move, and declared independence from Falglor.
The war started with much of the remaining nobility fleeing to the rebel controlled Xi Region and the surrounding provinces, bringing with them much of their resources. Falglor was entirely unprepared for the war. While they were aware that some sort of conflict had a high chance of breaking out due to the nature of these reforms, it was expected that it would be individual nobles that would rise up in rebellion, easily manageable fires that could be stamped out by local garrison units. It was deemed unlikely that nobles would rise up in a coordinated effort, and if they did, then it was assumed that they would be more spread out, in their seats of power rather than centralized in a single region.
The army scrambled to rally in a concentrated force as the rebels managed to grab up huge amounts of land, and began to march toward Wrenin, probably with the intent to occupy the capital and force the king to either abdicate, reverse his reforms, or some combination of the two. However, the Yunnaiteddo rebels were unable to keep up the momentum, and once resistance increased, along with being defeated at the Battle of Ziech, the rebels were forced to flee back across the Prafian River into the Xi Region, where the war reached a stalemate for several months, until a peace was signed between the rebelling nobles and the King of Falglor. However, Yunnaiteddo would remain a prize of Falglorian foreign policy and revanchist movements for a very long time.
A product of some of these policies and movements aimed at taking back control of the former Xi Region was The Prafian War, which Yunnaiteddo won, solidifying its independence for the years to come. Most of the conflict that the federation would undergo, however, would be a cause of infighting and other internal issues rather than external ones, like the declaration of the Xi Shogunate, when Yunnaiteddo was ruled by a military dictator for a decade, or the various interclan conflicts that have taken place over time.
While politically the Yunnaiteddo Federation is extremely diverse, culturally, it is basically the same. Honor and keeping your word holds much significance across Yunnaiteddo, giving promises a much more prominent role. There is also a dominant warrior culture among the clans, especially the eastern ones. The diversity and difficulty of traversing the geography of Yunnaiteddo has made it nearly impossible for a foreign force to invade or occupy it for long.
The country is officially ruled by the Huangdi, the leader of the federation, elected by a council of different families in the main capital, Dongjing. While the Huangdi is considered the leader of the federation, they're more so a figurehead where figures threatening to upend the status quo or a balance of power are sent to count out their days in a slightly larger than usual manor, devoid of any political power. Dongjing itself is a relatively regular city, only made really special by the above average amounts of foreign diplomats in the city.
Each clan has their own territory, and has an extreme amount of local autonomy. Laws differ from one province to another, along with governmental systems, so it's difficult to pin down a shared trait for the entire nation.
However, there is something special in Yunnaiteddo, a mysterious phenomenon where the world itself seems alive. Many have dubbed these as spirits, and spiritualism, something that exists only in Yunnaiteddo, is the dominant belief system. Even the gods can't explain why these spirits happen, and how they came to be. These spirits have given Yunnaiteddo an advantage in fighting against invading powers, even having their own Spirit Warrior.
