Kingdom of Adhyria

History

The Kingdom of Adhyria originates from back to the Wild Era, in the nation of Adhyria, one of the more advanced nations in the Wild Era besides the Alammar, of course. Adhyria was led by one king and his cabinet in the south eastern corner of the mainland, with a proud culture and peoples. When The Alammar Empire conquered Adhyria, it proved to be one of the more troublesome nations to subdue, with the locals constantly fighting back against their occupiers.

The High Kings of the Alammar Empire tried a number of strategies to get the Adhyrian people to cease their dissent, though nearly all of them were fruitless. As a last resort, one of the High Kings gave the son of the latest Adhyrian king some power, to be a governor of the Adhyrian province in the Empire in order to win over the support of the people. This succeeded for a time, with rebellion and unrest against the Alammar occupation simmering down. Eventually though, during the reign of Louis the Second, the heir to the Adhyrian governor led a revolt of nearly the entire province against the Alammar Empire. This dissent, however, was brutally put down, the rebels scattered to the wind, and the would-be King of Adhyria publicly executed. Despite all this, Adhyria was still very vocal about it's aims to become independent.

When the time of the Splintering came about, enthusiasm for independence had died down a little, those who remembered the glory days of Adhyria were long since dead, buried deep in catacombs underneath their cities. Still, many carried on their fervor, and made up a large number of the rebel armies. When the last embers of the Alammar faded and fell into infighting, many rejoiced all over the territory. However, a problem still remained. Who was going to lead this recently freed Adhyria now? A great many different people started up claims of their own of about they were the closest living heir to the lineage of Adhyrian kings. These successors were unable to properly negotiate, and Adhyria instantly fell into a state of civil war.

This conflict, known as the Adhyrian Civil War, lasted about two centuries, through the Age of Frost, and only came to an end because of Falglorian intervention. Before the end of the civil war, Cyakti Mahatva was in the most advantageous position to win the civil war, having conquered large swathes of the western territories, was in control of the largest army, and had the most support internationally due to him supporting the Coalition during the Age of Frost, and it seemed that Cyakti was on track to reunite Adhyria. This changed, however, when the Kingdom of Falglor sent an ultimatum to the remaining warlords, telling them to either accept annexation or be forcefully incorporated into the kingdom. Many of the remaining warlords refused, and the Eastern Adhyrianus War, in which Falglor conquered the different warlord states of Adhyria.

After the conquest, those in charge of sorting out what to do with this new territory knew that it would be difficult to effectively conquer and integrate such nation into the kingdom, and decided to instead make the kingdom a protectorate of the Kingdom of Falglor, placing Cyakti Mahatva into the position of king, and seeking to slowly integrate Adhyria into Falglor over time. In the 400s A.S, Adhyria was incorporated into Falglor as a self-governing province, with the Mahatva line as the governors of the territory.

Geography, Trade, and Governance

The lands of Adhyria aren't necessarily resource-rich, with most of the land being savannas or grassland, with little land suitable for farming, except for land near rivers, which is where most cities and towns typically reside. The materials that Adhyria is known for exporting, and their most lucrative product, is ivory taken from the tusks of the Gaj, who are found only in Adhyria, making ivory an extremely valuable material.

Also notable is the amount of gold in the land under Adhyria, which is much more than is usual. The sale of gold and ivory has made Adhyria a very valuable part of Falglor, one that makes it much money, and a very valuable province.

Adhyria is still ruled by the Mahatva line, and advised by a cabinet handpicked by the governor. Despite being called a governor, the Mahatva are still the kings of Adhyria in all but name. They command the respect of the people, control most of the provincial government, and have authority over the distribution of their natural resources, making them a very powerful figure within the Falglorian government. While they do still have to obey some of the laws passed by the King of Falglor and the Parliament, Adhyria is mostly free to do it's own thing because no one is willing to risk Adhyria deciding to break free from Falglor.
