Munich is still a gracious city, and the chestnuts are very lovely in the spring. But hatreds old and new, and the privations of the Great War, make it a difficult place just now.
Munich, a city of unrest, home to a secretive cult, and of course now filled with people crying in the streets. In their homes people gorge themselves, hoping to retain a fragment of the savor they once tasted. People congregate in churches, praying and weeping to deal with this strange hysteria. Communists and Nationalists fight in the papers and polls, and sometimes even in the streets.
