The KCB is a parallel government which operates in urban slums. It became the de-facto Yskoi government during the Umbral War, which it fought against the Kestran Empire. Though a peace accord was signed hundreds of years ago, tensions have been touch and go. The organization operates schools, hospitals, and other public works within the warrens, overcrowded slums found in most cities. While historically a Yskoi organization, the cultural syncretism of the Yskoi has led the organization to transition into one more focused on class. Today the KCB supports Automaton personhood, unionization, and redistribution of wealth.
The militant wing of the KCB has been responsible for a number of bombings, assassinations, and violent insurrections throughout its history. Though it has attempted to moderate its image and pursue a political settlement in recent history, recent events have brought the militant wind back into the public attention. Internally, there is a growing feeling that the ageing leadership’s pushes for dialogue and political options is out of touch with the dire situation on the ground. Still others remember the violent days of the past, and would like to be past them.
