Lacus Carcerem

Endelshine 9th, 951

  • The Peas encountered the Champion of Onyr, and engaged in battle with the hulking man
    • The Champion focused most of his effort on Leadbelly, summoning hounds of lightning to distract the others, and tearing into them with powerful blows
    • Some members of the party fell after taking some severe damage, but were eventually healed
    • The Champion left himself open for attacks, absorbing energy from the blows of the party, eventually releasing an explosive blast of crackling electricity
    • Apparently satisfied with the battle, the Champion handed Leadbelly a strange chunk of gleaming metal, and disappeared into the lightning, and somehow reappearing as an old man
    • He directed Leadbelly to find some sort of “dust” at the heart of Lake Faelance, and disappeared into the wind, leaving behind a tattered cloak, which Leadbelly took.
    • Yoxxel refused attempts at healing her.
  • The caravan continued on its way to Peralas, hoping to keep their time schedule
    • Grognock convinced the driver at the front of the caravan, Naelan, to allow him to sit next to him and meditate, extending his consciousness out into the surrounding area, identifying threats
    • Ven’laen Halhes spent a bit of time expressing interest in Phaelnah, flirting with her along the trip, much to her chagrin
    • Wander cast Floating Disk, allowing Leadbelly to ride it and get the benefits of a short rest
    • Grognock sound snakes nearby with his meditation, and didn’t tell anyone.
  • The party took a rest in a barn in a small farming community
    • Phaelnah was awoken by an agent of the Aeltran zealots, who attempted to offer the group money in order to give up the caravan to them
    • Some of the party awakened, and the agent made a run for it. The caravan remained undisturbed, for the time being.

Endelshine 10th, 951 – Endelshine 12th, 951

  • The party went back out onto the road, visiting various communities and delivering supplies
    • Leadbelly practiced long-jumping using his boots
    • Trapped in a barn during a powerful storm, the party killed some time with various activities
      • Phaelnah took some time to make some holy water inside the Roomy Chest, while Tyerjon made sure the lid stayed open
      • Journey spent some time knitting using her Wand of Yarn
      • Grognock spent some time sparring with Yoxxel among the pigs of the barn, while Seamus, as Murica, sulked in the corner
      • Wander, Phaelnah and Journey discussed about Etarus, Inglis, the devil apparently named Jackal, and Phaelnah’s courting rituals
      • Ven’laen sat in the corner, playing a lute and looking over at Phaelnah whenever he could
      • Leadbelly stewed
    • Grognock handed out some jerky to the confused farmers and terrified children
    • The group decided to keep a watch out for any more zealots in the night
    • Phaelnah stole away a rotting, mushy beet.
  • One of the wagons and its driver Forcas stayed behind

Endelshine 13th, 951 – Endelshine 21st, 951

  • Phaelnah became slightly more corrupted by the Nightblight
  • Caravan stumbled upon a tree in their path that Ven’laen swore was not there before
    • The group poked around and investigated the tree
    • Tyerjon handed around the Symbol of Ezan, not lighting up for Journey. Seamus picked up the scepter as Murica, undoing his transformation temporarily and making him shine
    • Ven’laen came over to check on the group, and Phaelnah distracted him as Seamus crawled into the Roomy Chest
    • Yoxxel kicked the tree, Grognock told her not to, so she kicked it again, and once more after Grognock attempted to tackle her
    • Finding nothing with the tree, the group moved on
  • The caravan hit the road again the morning after the storm.
    • Wander attempted to fix up Seamus’ leather armor, decently enough, but not good enough for Murica.
  • Phaelnah successfully fought off another incursion by the Nightblight
  • After days out on the road, the group arrived at the final community near the edge of the lake, leaving another wagon behind, and saying farewell to Zeryl

Endelshine 22nd, 951

  • The group was hailed by a member of the Divine Branch, the name of the organization of Aeltran worshipers
    • The man pleaded with the group to give up the caravan, citing they didn’t know what they were doing.
    • The caravan went into double-time in an attempt to outrun the zealots
    • Grognock attempted to fix a broken spoke on one of the wagons, which broke again, and was fixed again with Leadbelly’s assistance
    • Eventually, the caravan had to stop as the road ahead was blocked by felled trees
    • As the party investigated the nature of the trees, they were caught in an ambush orchestrated by the Divine Branch
  • The party did battle with the Divine Branch
    • The party began to easily dispatch the zealots, who seemed tired an emaciated
    • One of the druids summoned a pack of frenzied wolves, with Mange among them
      • Mange, being weak and stupid, couldn’t really do much to anyone, but did manage to get a weak bite in on Leadbelly
    • Most of the party emerged from the fighting unscathed
    • After the fight, Seamus went over and petted Mange as Phaelnah dispelled the enchantment affecting him
    • The party checked on the caravan, which was also besieged, but the zealots were dispatched by Ven’laen and the caravan drivers
    • The group began the process of slowly removing the roadblocks
    • Some investigation of the corpses revealed small symbols held by the members of the Divine Branch, as well as their somewhat starving state
    • The druid that Grognock restrained eventually awoke, and was relatively unresponsive to questioning
      • The druid answered few questions, intent on dying according to his god’s will
      • The group discussed what to do with the druid, and Grognock at one point wished to feed him using food from the caravan, and then did a complete 180 and snapped his neck
    • Yoxxel returned from chasing a zealot through the forest, torn to shreds and foaming at the mouth from poison
      • Phaelnah cast Lesser Restoration on Yoxxel
    • The caravan sped up, dashing through the night
      • In order not to exhaust Phaelnah, Tyerjon carried Phaelnah as she meditated, and Phaelnah was just barely able to keep her concentration as the dragonborn managed to keep his pace with a great feat of athleticism.
    • Eventually the caravan arrived at Peralas, with Ven’laen opening up an invisible barrier protecting the city
      • The group met with the “mayor” of Peralas, Llawayas Eir’dun, and he gave them a reward for their service, alongside a silver circlet, which Phaelnah took
      • Llawayas offered to enchant some items for the group as payment for their work
      • The group asked for various enchantments, and eventually settled in for a well-deserved rest

Endelshine 23rd, 951

  • The party woke up late, and decided to visit Lake Faelance
    • Just before the temple at the “heart” of the lake, Phaelnah suddenly walked into the water and disappeared
    • The group followed her down a bath through the water to a strange underwater temple, encountering the Nightseeker, the Twisted Knight, the Rain Knight, and what appeared to be Balnar
    • The Nightseeker instructed Journey to freeze the waterway they came in from, and had the stronger members of the party close the path off with an old door
    • The Nightseeker worked to complete her ritual to bind the demigod Tarisi, stating that the other members of the Darkheart were off serving as a distraction
  • Opening the gates, Tarisi spied where the party was and ported herself into the temple, becoming bound by the Nightseeker’s ritual, and then attacking the party
    • The group began to attack Tarisi alongside the Darkheart, dealing some heavy damage to her mortal form
    • Leadbelly attacked alongside his son, with Balnar seemingly missing whenever his father missed, and hitting when he hit
    • Tyerjon slashed into the demigod using Frosthold, and the sword began to glow slightly over time
    • Seamus dealt some heavy critical damage as Voidspeaker delighted in the divine blood that was being spilled
    • Journey began to assist the Nightseeker, providing her with her spell slots and health
    • Phaelnah created a Guardian of Faith and then took the Nightseeker’s other hand, providing her with her power as well
    • Grognock jumped in and out of battle, dealing damage and healing others with some special abilities granted fleetingly by a god-like presence
    • Wander attempted to hit Tarisi with the Drying Pan, but was flung across the room, and lost his pan to the water below. He later attempted to make her laugh with Hideous Laughter, but she didn’t find his joke very funny. He resorted to stabbing her with the Kingleader Dagger.
  • Slowly as the party beat Tarisi back, the Nightseeker’s ritual, aided by Journey and Phaelnah, completed. The members of the Peas, alongside the Twisted Knight, stabbed her bound form with a set of 7 sealing spears while the Rain Knight and Balnar fled
    • With the ritual completed, Tarisi was pulled into the altar at the center of the temple, disappearing
  • As the group finished the ritual, the Nightseeker released Phaelnah and Journey, thanking the party for their assistance. She then warped out along with the Twisted Knight as the Rain Knight fled
    • Balnar dropped his glamour revealing himself to have been Mardyth the whole time, and he left the party with a firebomb as the doors slammed shut and the temple began to crumble around them
    • The group discovered that there were basins of holy water that would restore their health, which everyone drank
    • The party each situated themselves on the protective ritual circles the Nightseeker had created, and prayed (or didn’t) to whoever would listen as the ceiling fell in
