Leidren Mefkat is a human adventurer and onomancer from the Sufessian Dominion. While exploring the caves under Deadlurch, she absorbed a large amount of ley energy, allowing her to exert certain powers over people using their names. She later absorbed a large amount of energy from a ley stream, increasing her power but making the normal life she dreamed of unattainable.
Description
Leidren is a woman of slightly below average height and heavy set. She has medium cut brown hair, brown eyes, and light freckling across her face. Generally, she covers her face with a long scarf, revealing only her eyes. She wears vestments that seem cut for ease of movement as well a pack full of adventuring supplies.
Leidren is shy and kindhearted. She is generally passive and doesn:t often voice her opinions.
Skills and Abilities
Besides her magical abilities, Leidren is an experienced adventurer. However, she is not practiced in combat scenarios, and is relatively frail.
Onomancy
Leidren can use the names of creatures to exert powers over them. By twisting their names into different words, she is capable of levying boons and hindrances upon others.
History
Leidren originally hailed from the Sufessian Dominion, where she worked with her family on a farm. Tired of her monotonous life, she set out to discover what the world had to offer, and began traveling around Atavar. When exploring a cave system under Deadlurch in Sufessia, Leidren was caught in an explosion of ley energy and received the powers of onomancy. However, this power haunted her by whispering at her with the voices of people whose names she knew.
At some point, Leidren met Selathwin Muleyr, who convinced her to join her expedition through the Isles of Wrath in order to find an ancient ley line map left behind by a forgotten civilization. Leidren traveled in a boat alongside the Peas, offering her abilities in exchange for protection. Targeted a few times by various monsters due to her weak nature, Leidren began to express regret for taking Selathwin's offer after witnessing the deaths of the majority of the other expedition members.
After arriving at the Temple of the Earth on Slaghead Island, Leidren was tasked by Selathwin to attune a crystal to ley intersection resonance, requiring her to travel to the jungles of Alghir Nokk. Leidren returned successfully from this trip, but soon realized that entering the ley stream Selathwin had created would likely exacerbate her powers instead of remove them. Regardless, facing the danger of the Nightseeker, Leidren entered the stream, emerging with powerful new abilities, able to manifest words in physicality. She assisted in the defense of the rearguard during the Battle for the Sun, creating powerful barricades with her newfound strength. After the battle ended, Leidren disappeared without a word, depressed by the intrusive nature of her accelerated powers.
