Harlowe grew up as a middle child of a minor noble. With little prospects in court matters, he trained in war and joined the local Order of Tempus in late teens. He was happy there, felt purpose, companionship, and love. One night, while on guard duty, their chapterhouse was attacked. As Harlowe rushed to the breached gates, a blur of shadow and coldness slammed into him, knocking him through an ornate stained-glass window and into mud below. He woke much later, his face badly cut and with a few broken ribs. Making his way back into the chapterhouse revealed a charnel pit. No one survived and there were no bodies of the attackers. A fire had started in the smithy and was quickly spreading. Grabbing a few supplies and trampled war-banner from the ground, he left in search of answers and retribution.
