It has thick walls, cool temperatures, and little light, ideal for preserving ale. Run by the Bottler, who is responsible for overseeing the drink stores. The Bottler and his underlings live directly adjacent to the buttery so they can serve the commands of the emperor at all hours of the day and night.They also dispense drinks into pitchers or cups during meals, feasts, or for household needs.
One of the barrels is stored away from the other, painted black, it conceals the skeletal remains of a thief who once hid there and never escaped. This barrel is known as the 'Thief's Grog' and a shot of it is called for to be drunk by every thief in Songborne who is to be executed.
