Previous episode: Lords and Legacies (KEI) - S01 E02
Emerging from the tombs, the party finds themselves on a secluded path leading away from Castle Eldar, with the town of Nylarion on the other side of the large hills. Taking a short rest, they prepare to enter the town, which is ruled by the noble house of Karella. However, as they approach the town’s outskirts, they spot wanted posters bearing their portraits near a group of town guards. Realizing the danger, they do their best to disguise themselves. Thanks to a quick and convincing deception by Vera, they manage to slip past the guards without suspicion. Moving further into Nylarion, the group visits the local blacksmith, where they purchase cloaks to help blend in with the common folk. Remembering the Heartseeker, the powerful compass they retrieved from the tomb, they decide to use it to determine their next course of action. When activated, the compass points westward, leading them just outside town to a grand estate surrounded by a well-kept fence. The name Malakor Estate is inscribed on the entrance, a name that immediately sparks recognition among the adventurers. They recall that an old friend from their adventuring days, Rhodrich Malakor (‘Rhody’), once traveled with them and Lord Therald.
Knocking on the estate’s door, they are greeted by Rhody’s butler, who quickly informs Rhody of their arrival. Soon, their old friend welcomes them inside, offering them tea and the much-needed potion ‘donkey kicking’, which finally lifts the necromantic curse afflicting Coco. After catching up, the party asks Rhody for advice on how to clear their names. Rhody suggests they travel west to the domain of Grand Duke Ereon Ferena, a powerful noble who might have the influence necessary to remove their false accusations. However, he warns that the journey will be dangerous. Their first stop should be the town of Aeloriah, which lies on the border of a broad river that separates them from Ferena’s lands. The noble house ruling Aeloriah, House Daleta, is known for its neutrality in conflicts, making it a safe place to cross the river. With a new destination in mind and Rhody’s guidance fresh in their thoughts, the party thanks him for his help and prepares to set off on their journey. The session ends as they leave Malakor Estate.
