A province represents a large territory controlled by a central ruler, but managed locally by a regional noble. A duke, count, or earl usually governs the land in the king's name. The province must send gold, crops, and goods back to the capital. Local lords must raise a provincial army when the king calls for war. Different provinces often have unique climates, accents, laws, and military styles.
