Previous Episode: Voyage of the Cursed Dawn - S02 E16
The session began back at King Nevalon’s castle following the party’s victory over Mizella and their induction into the Heroes Guild. While Red Flint was away, Cain Vaelen, Juulia Troski, and Rasa Arziki had a serious conversation about their captain. Looking back at Flint’s decisions and behavior throughout their adventures, doubts had begun to grow about whether he was still the right person to lead the crew. For the first time, the possibility of a mutiny against Red Flint was openly discussed. No decision was made, but the idea was now on the table. Flint later joined them, and the group turned their attention toward a more immediate problem: getting out of Baldor and finding their ship again. Their best option appeared to be traveling toward Dhil Badur, capital of the Dyandar Islands, which had access to a harbor. Unfortunately, Dhil Badur was far to the west on the large island, making an overland journey a significant undertaking. Before deciding what to do, the party visited a bank in Baldor and made some surprising discoveries about their finances. Red Flint somehow had four separate bank accounts registered to his name. Even stranger was what they discovered about Rasa. There was an account belonging to someone named Rasa Arziki Sr., containing an enormous 100,000 gold pieces. The name suggested a possible connection to Rasa’s father, opening another mystery surrounding his family and past. After their visit to the bank, the party returned to King Nevalon’s castle to request an audience with the king. Rasa briefly separated from the others first to finally collect the Obsidian Ring of Teleportation he had commissioned two nights earlier.
At the castle, the party encountered Meliam again, the Level 20 Hero they had met at the Hall of Heroes. They now learned another important detail about her: Meliam is King Nevalon’s adopted daughter. When the group explained their travel problem, King Nevalon offered them a much easier solution. The castle contained a teleportation portal capable of taking them directly to Dhil Badur, saving them the enormous journey across the Dyandar Islands. There was one complication: Abby. Using the portal required the traveler to concentrate on their destination, meaning Abby could not safely make the journey herself. The party therefore entrusted her to Meliam, who promised to ensure Abby reached Dhil Badur safely. The group entered the portal and successfully teleported across the island. Meliam and Abby made it as well. Upon arriving near Dhil Badur, however, they immediately noticed that something unusual was happening. The road toward the city was covered in decorations, and large numbers of travelers were making their way toward the gates. The entire capital seemed to be preparing for a celebration. The party had arrived during one of the Dyandar Islands’ special holidays: Winterfest! Session ends.
