Their magical nature makes dragons capable of breeding with almost any material creature, if not necessarily inclined to do so. This is not something dragons took lightly. Based on ancients texts and stories passed down from Drakon its unclear on the origins of their lineage, but the most accepted theory is they were created for purposes of increasing power for dragons or other entities, excluding current royalty.

Fated Birth

Evil dragons tend to limit their breeding with humanoids simply because they don't trust others, and history has shown that half-dragon offspring are often treacherous and willing to overthrow and slay their parent in order to seize power and wealth for themselves. The dragons are also cautious about allowing too many of their arcane secrets to fall into other hands. There is many events in the history of Agrea that is related to evil half-dragons leading nefarious plots.

Good dragons, too, have been known to produce half-dragon offspring for a particular purpose. While not as callous and calculating as their chromatic cousins, the metallic dragons often see half-dragons as a means to an end. In their case, that usually means the defeat of some danger that threatens, particularly if it's been unleashed by evil dragons. Metallic half-dragons often appear in response to the presence of evil half-dragons to act as champions against the forces of evil.

In some rare instances, a half-dragon child will result from a loving union between a dragon and a mortal. Good dragons have been known to fall in love with particularly good-hearted humanoids, although such unions are nearly always doomed to a tragic end due to the eventual death of thier loved one.

Legacy of dragons

Drakon look very much like dragons standing erect in humanoid form with a tail and sometimes wings. The first generations had scales of vibrant hues matching the colors of their dragon kin, but generations of interbreeding have created a more uniform appearance. Their scales are usually brass or bronze in color, sometimes ranging to scarlet, rust, gold, or copper-green. They are tall and strongly built, often standing close to 6½ feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talonlike claws with four fingers and a thumb on each hand.

Often a single scale color coincides with their breath weapon they've inherited from their lineage. Although rarer is a Drakon with a breath weapon different then their scales. As a whole Drakon don't discriminate on color of scales, but if someone is bullied likely the first thing picked on is their scale color. The Metallic dragons make up the majority of the population while chromatic is a minority. Outside of their society the chromatic dragons are typically more feared.

The blood of a particular type of dragon runs very strong through Drakon. These Drakon often boast scales that more closely match those of their dragon ancestor—bright red, green, blue, or white, lustrous black, or gleaming metallic gold, silver, brass, copper, or bronze.

Ruled by lineage

Drakon society typically is meritocratic, but often the most charismatic tend to be rulers and leaders. Among those leaders are Drakon Purebloods who have a higher concentration of dragons blood, but due to breeding priorities tend to have softer scales and don't have the same elemental resistances as their more hardier common folk. More rarely when a Half-dragon is born or is presented to

Dragons in their original form still hold the most prestige in their society. This has led to a lot of romance tales about a Drakon and a Dragon falling in love. In reality Dragons and Half-dragons are rare in their society. Drakon society as a whole often venerate them. The few that are around often climb to positions of prestige easier due to natural ability and support from the people. Currently the ruling royal family is a group of metallic dragons with many half-dragon princes and princesses. The Gold Dragon Emperor rules with his mate, a Silver Drakon Duke, at side.

Religion

Good Drakon worship Bahamut in the open and evil Drakon worship Tiamat in secret. Bahamut has primary tenets, but can be summed up as representing everything good in Drakon society and Tiamat being the worse. There is only one god in their eyes and all others are just the apostles of Bahamut. Tiamat isn't treated like a god, but is a cast down apostle known for trying to destroy Drakon. Tiamat is often depicted as trying to sway Drakon to evil in an attempt to gain enough worship to become powerful enough to take on Bahamut. In this regard there are many Demon like Drakon in their religious mythos who would try to tempt them to evil and just as many celestials who try to guide them to the path of light.

When you take the attack action you can replace one of your attacks with an exhalation of energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. You can use your breath weapon once before you complete a short or long rest.

Damage Resistance.

You have resistance to the damage type associated with your draconic ancestry.
