Goblins often are seen as weak monsters that barely survive. In agrea, they are seen with compassion by the settlers and integrated into society. In the continent of insulae they are treated as little more then vagrants.
Small world after all
Goblins were small goblinoids that many considered little more than a nuisance. They had flat faces, broad noses, pointed ears, and small, sharp fangs. Their foreheads sloped back, and their eyes varied in color from red to yellow. Their skin color ranged from yellow through any shade of orange to a deep red; usually, all members of the same tribe shared the same colored skin, though they also came in shades of green.Insulae Goblins were typically dressed in dark leathers soiled by poor hygiene and colored in a similar range of tones to their skin. Agrea goblins tend to be better taken care of or dressed in tribal clothing in the non-feral jungle tribes. Goblins usually stood between 3′4″‒3′8″ (1‒1.1m) and weighed about 40‒55lb (18‒25kg) on average.
An Endangered Breed
The goblins in agrea act like little more then feral beasts. They are often hunted by the bigger more powerful societies and sentient races due to the general threat feral goblins present. This has led to prejudice towards the goblins that still hold a level of intelligence.
There seems to be only one tribe of goblins that shows a level of intelligence. When the colonists from the insulae showed up on the beach, there was an initial conflict, but was quickly resolved forming a covenant between the new settlers and the native goblins. In return they've taught the settlers in the outpost how to forage, what dangers lurk in the jungle, and learn new technologies in return.
The goblins in Insulae have not been so kind and often form small tribes where a goblin 'despot' rules the clan.
Tribal Society
The goblins in Agrea had only a few titles. Most of the tribe was either hunters, tribal farmer, or gatherers. There was a few shaman and the chief as well. Typically everyone in the tribe is responsible for defense and food. From what the goblin tribes themselves state, their species was cursed a long time ago with a disease that effect nearly all the goblins. They keep a fair distance from any feral goblins to keep the curse away from them. The goblin shaman believe an angry deity cursed them for some misgiving.
Typical of any goblin, they train and ride a number of medium sized beasts when available, notably wolves and raptors. In agrea, they get hold of raptors more then wolves in the jungles.
