Summary
Ilena was the goddess of knowledge, divination, trickery, memory, and pathways in the old Irkasian Pantheon. She — like most other deities of the old pantheon — has seen diminished worship in the centuries since Erazin's rise to godhood, though some thieves' guilds and libraries throughout Irkasy and northern Targues still display her holy symbols, and those who still practice the art of divination may ask for her guidance.
History
Depictions
Depictions of Ilena are rare, as worshippers believed that giving the goddess of trickery and secrets form would in some way displease her. A handful of popular paintings remain, however, and these typically depict Ilena as a pale-skinned (or sometimes blue-skinned) woman hidden under a hooded, deep blue traveler's cloak. She carries a staff made of silvery wood topped with a perfectly round blue gem. A similar gem — cut into a diamond shape — hangs from a necklace. Her face is never shown, and it is believed that those who dare look underneath the hood are sapped of their memories of the encounter, if not more.
Ilena is also said to sometimes take the form of native birds, most commonly owls. These birds always have silver plumage and are always missing their right eye.
Worship
Ilena is rarely worshipped openly. Ordzina remains the last bastion of her faithful; the Royal Academy and Royal Library bear her holy symbol proudly, and the latter contains one of the only known depictions of her (a large statue in the center of the main hall).
