Yznas (EEZ-nahs) is the god of nature, renewal, and the hunt in the old Irkasian and Targuite pantheons. Worship of Yznas has fallen largely to the wayside, though travelers may still hear his name invoked in far-flung rural communities.

History

Depictions

Yznas is known to take on many forms, but he most commonly takes on the shape of a great white bear, a white stag, or a faun-like figure.

Yznas has been rendered almost unrecognizable in his depiction as a saint under Erazin. He appears instead as a kindly old shepherd with a large shaggy white dog at one side, and a lamb at the other.

Worship

Yznas is one of the more distant deities of his pantheon and most of his followers do not expect him to directly intervene on their behalf. He has, on rare occasions, conferred his blessing to those who proved themselves champions of the natural order.

In-Game Knowledge

  • The pallid elves appear to worship an aspect of Yznas, whom they know as Istuinir
  • Yznas also seems to feature in the mythology of the Brave Beast Tribe, though not by name. A great white stag sometimes appears in the elders' dreams or to tribe members in great distress.
  • Several aspects of Yznas are believed to roam the forests of Irkasy. These aspects often take the appearance of an especially large individual of local species and are believed to confer minor boons to those who impress them.
