The Gate of the West is the port of the city of Kardunash and is the only legal way to approach the city by boat. The port is one of the largest in the World, servicing thousands of ships a day. The port is called the Gate of the West as it was the westernmost edge of Mankind's domain during the First Age, and to sail further west was to sail away from the realm of Mankind.
