The Morikh are the natives of the Ekhoron Steppe. They are a people of various tribes and petty kingdoms. There are some permanent settlements, but most of the Morikh are nomads who follow grazing herds in mobile yurt villages.
The Morikh are excellent horsemen, and the name "Morikh" means "Horse Spouses," referring to the Morikh coming-of-age ritual in which a new adult "marries" and permanently bonds with a horse. The most distinguished of the Morikh ride unicorns.
Every few generations, the Morikh are usually united by a Khagan, or "Great Khan" or "Khan of Khans," who leads conquest of the neighboring regions. These conquests rarely last past the Khagan's death due to infighting and resistance, but they have had a strong cultural influence on the neighboring regions of Oboyan and morikhyar is a lingua franca of the fertile savannah of Utshan and the dunes of Ishilabath.
