When heads of House Pineblood die, their bodies are encased and preserved in resin from Great Pine and kept in the castle crypt. This practice dates back millennia, possibly to the foundation of House Pineblood itself. 

In lieu of a crown, the monarchs of House Pineblood wear a golden torc around their necks and rings on their horns.
