Duat'hahnd-van, meaning "The Eternal Gardens of Brass," is the nation of the Elkari. It is a loose confederacy of the three major city-states of the Elkari and several smaller towns and villages.
Each city-state is ruled by an Eternal King, an Elkari man who was, upon the foundation of the city, bound to a highly secretly piece of Elkari arcane technology known as the Eternal Throne. While the Eternal Kings exist in a trance state in constant concert with the patron God of the Elkari, Elkor, they exist on a higher plane, holding El-Duram together to protect their people.
Due to the catatonic trances of the Eternal Kings, the real power of day-to-day governance lies with the democratically elected aspects of the government, making them de facto republics.
