The Lucco Supremacy is a term used to refer to the period of Nerian Confederacy in which House Lucco consistently held the office of Hierarch of Neria and held extreme sway over the politics of the Commonwealth, effectively transforming the Commonwealth into a hereditary monarchy. The Lucco Supremacy ended during the Marian Crisis, in which poor policy decisions under the leadership of Hierarch Mariano Lucco led to an internal coup and the ousting of Mariano and his family from power. Following the brief civil war, the new duke, Lord Liona Lucco, did not participate in the election of the next Hierarch, leading Sofia Sweetwine to ascend to the office of Hierarch. Though the Luccos remained a major house after the fall of their hereditary rule, they never again held the office of Hierarch.
