Cuckoo's Nest

The Cuckoo’s Nest, run by the eccentric Gnome tinkerer Grimbel Nockspindle, is as much a workshop as it is a shopfront. The moment the door opens, visitors are greeted by the rhythmic ticking, chiming, and whirring of a hundred clocks, each set slightly off from the others. Their hands spin in concert and chaos, creating a symphony of mechanical life that fills the air. Between the clocks, shelves sag under the weight of half-finished contraptions, peculiar gadgets, and odd devices whose purposes aren’t always immediately clear.

The floor, however, is a hazard all its own—littered with stray screws, springs, and bolts that crunch or roll underfoot. More than one customer has had to catch themselves before tripping on a loose gear. The shop is dim and crowded, yet strangely inviting, a place where curiosity seems to hum in the air just as loudly as the clocks.

To find Grimbel himself often requires patience and volume. The gnome is almost always elbows-deep in his latest invention, hair wild, goggles perched crookedly on his forehead, and hands blackened with soot and oil. Customers usually have to shout to get his attention, at which point he will whirl around with a manic grin, immediately launching into a rapid-fire explanation of whatever marvelous (or unstable) device he’s currently building.

Despite the chaos, the Cuckoo’s Nest is beloved by adventurers and curious minds alike. Grimbel’s creations range from the practical—pocket watches, lanterns, locks—to the eccentric, such as self-stirring teapots, folding ladders, or tiny clockwork animals. Some work perfectly. Some… explode. Either way, a visit to the Cuckoo’s Nest is never boring.
