Assembly Hall

The beating heart of Lygos’ politics, the Assembly Hall is an imposing marble structure that dominates its district. Its gleaming white columns rise high into the air, carved with scenes of the city’s founding and triumphs. Wide steps lead up to a set of bronze double doors, where guards stand watch over the flow of citizens, petitioners, and council members.

Inside, the central audience chamber is a vast, echoing hall with tiered seating that can hold hundreds. At its center lies the circular dais of the Assembly itself, where elected members debate and decide the laws of the city. Voices carry easily beneath the high domed ceiling, ensuring that every impassioned speech or fiery argument can be heard by the gathered crowd.

Flanking the main chamber are rows of offices and meeting rooms, where legislators, scribes, and advocates work tirelessly—or scheme endlessly. The halls bustle with clerks running errands, messengers carrying bills, and minor officials seeking favor. Though built as a monument to order and democracy, the Assembly Hall is as much a marketplace of ambition as it is a seat of governance.

For citizens of Lygos, the Assembly Hall represents both hope and frustration: it is the place where voices may be heard, but also where the loudest, cleverest, or most well-funded voices often drown out the rest.

Assembly Members

1. Tharic Gemcutter (Dwarf Jeweler)

A stout dwarf with a braided gray beard and fingers glittering with rings of his own craft. His eyes are sharp, always narrowed in suspicion whenever talk of taxes or spending arises. Tharic is notoriously stingy—he insists on balancing every copper and has never once voted in favor of a new levy. Known as “Stonepurse” by his colleagues.

2. Mara Lintrell (Young Human Idealist)

A human woman in her late 20s, with chestnut hair tied back and earnest green eyes that shine with conviction. Mara is newly elected and filled with idealistic passion, speaking of fairness, justice, and lifting up the poor. Though her heart is in the right place, she is naïve about political maneuvering and often underestimated by older councilors.

3. Seressa Redfeather (AarakocraLegalist)

An aarakocra with bright blue plumage, reminiscent of a blue jay. Seressa seems perpetually distracted, staring out windows or doodling with her quill—but when called on, she can recite statutes, rulings, and precedents with perfect word-for-word accuracy. Her recall makes her invaluable, though her aloof manner frustrates colleagues.

4. Orrin Proudfurrow (Veteran Halfling)

A halfling well into his seventies, with thinning white hair and a perpetually sour expression. Jorin has served on the council for more than forty years, and his deep distrust of nobility and the crown has only hardened with time. He is blunt, cantankerous, and relentless in calling out corruption, making him both respected and resented.

5. Caelus Brightflame (Charismatic Tiefling)

A tall tiefling with crimson skin, golden eyes, and a flair for oratory. Caelus delivers grand, fiery speeches that bring crowds to their feet, but he is inconsistent in practice—often missing key meetings or votes. He is adored by the public for his charisma, but privately derided by fellow councilors as unreliable.

6. Dr. Valandor Ellessar (Elf Physician)

A tall, silver-haired elf with piercing blue eyes and the confidence of a man certain of his own brilliance. Valandor speaks with pride about advances in medicine and public health, but his reputation is clouded by rumors of multiple mistresses across the city. His rivals whisper that his personal life could one day bring scandal to the council floor.
