Appearance

Durak Maliqbar is a broad, burly dwarf with sun-darkened skin and a beard the color of ash and iron. His face is weathered with decades of service, but his eyes still glimmer with wry humor. He wears Calimshan military armor modified to be comfortable—fur-lined, loose at the joints, and equipped with a well-worn pipe holder.

His helm hangs from his belt. He has absolutely no intention of wearing it unless arrows are already flying.

Personality

Durak is:

  • calm

  • unflappable

  • content to live and let live

  • fond of long breakfasts and longer naps

  • utterly uninterested in earning glory

He calls this post his “pre-retirement retirement” and constantly jokes that he’ll die of boredom before any enemy crosses the mountain pass.

But behind that humor lies a shrewd, tactical mind. He’s fought enough wars to know that peace is precious — and fragile.

Durak:
