Iara hails from Kilargin, a small town East of Hawthorne.
One night when she was young, she went out to calm some of the family's farm animals who had been spooked by something, and was attacked by an unidentified vampire.
When she woke up next, she already was in a coffin underground, but the voice of her brother Bira outside, combined with the new thirst, pushed her to dig herself out.

By some small miracle, Bira not only survived, but decided to feed her his blood regularly, so that she won't have to hunt anyone else.
And so for sixty-four years, Iara rose once every week to find her older brother waiting for her. He brought her books, clothes, games to play together, and his precious blood.

One night however, Bira didn't show up. Thinking she had gotten up a day early, Iara forced herself back to sleep despite the thirst. Yet her brother didn't come the night after either.

Needing to feed, but not wanting to hurt anyone at the same time, Iara began to stalk the streets of Kilargin, hoping to find clues of Bira's situation, and to take a little blood from any passerby. Of course, a creature jumping people at night would raise some worries, and Hawthorne's Guild was called in.

The adventurers and Iara met in the hideout of a murderous necromancer almost by accident, and as the heroes had previously met Bira at the town's clinic, almost all of them agreed to reuinte the sibilings once they pieced the story together.

Bira passed away of old age during the meeting, but the guildmembers were willing to help Iara regain her humanity. They invited her to join them in Hawthorne, where they hoped to find the cure.

Iara traveled to Hawthorne on her own, with the assistance of Kilargin's doctor Paracelus, bringing what little possessions she has: her coffin, some dresses, a few mementos of her family, and a lot of books.

She is currently looking for a place to settle down at, and she's heard whispers of another "adopted" vampire girl somewhere in the city...

Legendary Actions

Iara Mahin can take 2 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Iara Mahin regains spent legendary actions at the start of their turn.

Scary Face. Iara Mahin targets one creature they can see within 60 feet of them. If the target can see Iara Mahin, the target must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of Iara Mahin until the end of its next turn.
