Ector Brahms

Lord Commander, Lord Regent

Lord Commander Ector Brahms is the regent of Phlan and the leader of the Knights of the Black Fists. He stands at middling height, with surprisingly athletic build despite his advanced 65 years of age. His hair is fully white, and his skin is tanned and weathered, creases and wrinkles lining his face. He wears with himself a set of Black Fist Plate armour and the legendary Cinnabar cape of Phlan. Ever at his side is the Baneblade, a dark weapon produced for the original position of Knight Commander of the Black Fists.

Brahms took rulership of Phlan in 1488DR when Talaric Daoren, the last Lord Protector of Phlan mysteriously died amidst riots. To quell the rioting and burning of the city, Brahms enacted martial law, and shut down much of the city to enforce his will and bring order.

In 1493 he survived an attack on Valjevo castle where insurgents within the ranks of the Black Fists attempted to work in concert with the Cult of the Dragon and the ancient green dragon Vorgansharax to overthrow his rule of the city and install the dragon as the ruler on the Cinnabar throne.

While understanding that his organization was compromised, the true extent of the corruption went unnoticed by Brahms who was deceived by treacherous Knight Lieutenants in his leadership. Focused on other tasks that required his attention, such as the predations of Thay and the Ogre-kin of Thar, Phlan was left to rot under the oversight of his Lieutenants. Only Knight Lieutenant Alleyd Burral was a subordinate that Brahms would trust completely.

While Brahms leads an organization rife with corruption and tyranny Ector was a stubbornly honorable and stoic man. He knew well what it was like to carry the burden of leadership. While willing to be pragmatic, he was stubborn and would not compromise his values even if it meant bringing peace to the city he ruled.
