Kalista remembers very little of her life before becoming a Stormcast. She however remembers very clearly how she died. Flock of Tzaangors rushed after the refugees. She and her fellow scouts were few, but they had tricks to make the difference. They set up an ambush. They fought fiercely, but they were utterly outnumbered. Twisted blade carved across her face, blinding her. She had but a moment to enact this last act of vengeance. She slammed her emberstone token with all her desperate strength on the ground and let herself be consumed by the explosion that followed. Before passing away in darkness, she felt the surge of victory, as the flock routed.
Darkness remained, but so did the "warmth". She was deemed worthy. Though the impact of emberstone left a scar on her soul, rage against chaos unbound. Sigmar may have restored her sight, but she remained utterly focused on decimation of forces of the Dark Gods. She was assigned a prosecutor at first, and her continuous efforts of enacting justice have lead her to multiple reforgings, where her rage only grew.
As many of the Dawnforged Host, Kalista stands out for her sometimes reckless courage. But unlike her sisters and brothers, she fights with the intention to sunder. The innocent cannot be harmed, if there is no one left to harm them. This behaviour sometimes leads to distaste of her by other Stormcasts of her stormhost, but the very fact she was reforged and was given two runic blades, Dusk and Dawn, implies that Sigmar believes in her way. Rumours speak that she is very similar to Yndrasta, cold and merciless hunter that stops at nothing to see her hunt done. But whispers of the Brightwing among the common folk speak otherwise, for Kalista may be a merciless hunter, but she hunts those that would prey upon the weak. Be it an Orruk Warboss, a rampaging Gargant or a Khornate Warlord, she hunts to protect.
