The starport on Solitude Colony is one of the few where ships are landing on solid ice, it rests in an ancient caldera of a dormant volcano. The colony uses the geothermic vents in the caldera for both heat and a power supply, supplementing the orbital mirrors.
Surrounding Solitude beyond the Caldera is the Quiet Sea, a massive shelf of ice sitting atop a deep ocean. Drill sites dot the horizon and snow skimmers race between them to collect the sea life caught in the nets pushed down the boreholes in over 15 meters of solid ice.
